GPA CALCULATION

This may seem like a trivial question....but if my marks for a given year are: 92,80,81,86,78 then is my GPA 3.8/4.0? I'm not sure if I'm calculating this correctly....please help.

That's a 3.72 ifyou're from an Ontario school... using the OMSAS scale, a 90+=4.0, 85-89=3.9, 80-84-3.7, and 76-79=3.3. Convert each of your marks to a grade point value FIRST, and then average them to get your GPA.

Okay, that link was helpful and I see where you got the 3.72, but according to THE BLACK BOOK ON CANADIAN MEDICAL SCHOOLS by Dr. Brett Ferdinand, his OMSAS Conversion Table for Scale 3 lists the following: 90%+=4.0, 89%=3.97, 88%=3.93, 87%=3.90 etc. thus breaking if up more...

Is this Converstion Table incorrect? I'm assuming it is....

Thanks : )

Well, I have never seen an OMSAS scale that looks like the one that you describe. I think that I would trust the one published by OMSAS more than the one by Dr. Ferdinand. It is probably closer to the truth... However, you could always call the application centre just to make sure.
