whistler
Hi everyone! As tax season is approaching my parents have been asking me if I can include the Kaplan in-course classes (~$1600) as part of my annual taxes submission. Wondering if anyone has an answer? Thanks! Sabina79
Generally anything that is considered tuition in an official post secondary educational institution can be claimed. If you want to be certain, just call revenue canada @ 1-800-959-8281 or your local taxation office. this is from their website: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pub/tg/p105/p105-07e.pdf see page 18 for forms: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tax/individuals/topics/income-tax/return/completing/deductions/lines300-350/323/eligible-e.html sorry I couldn't get the exact answer. The Bunny
Kaplan themselves say no because they are not considered as a post secondary education institute. They are a service or something else.
biloba
if you are incorporated, you can make the course tax deductible.. i dont know if you want to go through the hassle of incorporating yourself though..
dan0105
Ya what Bunny said. I have friends who for Kaplan and they have been told that since they are not a true government post-secondary institute they do not qualify for the tax stuff. That is in Canada at least, but I doubt its different in the states...
