Practicing in US after Canadian Residency

Recommended Posts

Kaplan recently gave a talk regarding doing RESIDENCY in the States, so I think you can get some info from them.

As a Canadian trained MD, you will need to do all the steps of USMLE to do residency or a fellowship in the States, so I would assume that you would need do them in order to practice as well. The USLME site itself should also have some good info.

Actually, many US fellowships do not require Canadian graduates to complete any steps of the USMLE. To wit, I am considering a fellowship in the US and I certainly don't wish to write any part of the USMLE. There are a number of radiology fellowships which are currently happy to accept my application despite my lack of USMLE scores.

Cheers,

Kirsteen
