sabdul
Hi everyone! I was wondering... Do American dental schools only look at undergraduate courses when calculating your GPA? If I do a MSc, will that help, or is it better to do a 5th year and take a few undergrad courses to boost the GPA? Thanks!
microserf
They look at everything if I remember correctly
juba
A master's will help you more than a 5th year.

dentshopeful
A master's will help you more than a 5th year. but a master's will take at least 2 years though... so wouldn't it be better to do a 5th year instead? ...assuming you are really decided on dents. sabdul
Aren't there some 1 year masters programs as well?
ToothFaireee
Aren't there some 1 year masters programs as well? I not too sure but I think that most schools will specify that it should be a 2-year research masters in order to get the bonus point (at least that how it is or UWO). The school that I'm at for undergrad actually thought about running a 1 year life sciences masters program but decided against it because they realized that it would not give their students (who were likely to be med/dent hopefuls taking a year off) a significant advantage. If you just want to go back for one year, I would say do a year of course work to improve the gpa. If you are okay with going back for two years, then masters it up. Just my take..
