globy321
Hi. What do students spend the stipend money on? Is it used to pay living expenses or buy lab supplies? Is stipends like a job pay and you do whatever you like with the money?
WaveSense
generally speaking a stipend is pay money for you. You spend it on w/e you want to. If you get scholarships sometimes they have a set amount set aside for lab work. for example the cihr doct scholarship is 30K/year with an additional 5k for lab supplies (if u buy them) or travel to conferences and stuff. but if you're prof says you ahve a stipend of w/e, they mean that you get paid that much
sobes74
Exactly. It's your "salary" essentially. The typical grad student spends it on rent, food and beer at the grad club.
