UVIC Major in Biology or General Program in Biology

I was wondering if it really matters for med schools if I choose to pursue a major in biology or if I just stick with the general program. I'm going into my third year at UVIC and have been following a course outline for the major program

However the general program would let me choose more of other classes rather then biology ones, and in turn I could choose easier ones (GPA Boosters)

Link for general program.

Any thoughts?

generals are pretty darn weak degrees. I really wouldnt recommend it. If medschool fails or you change your mind you will be stuck with a degree you will probably have to upgrade. And while schools like UBC "claim" they don't care about what sort of degree you have and say its all GPA, I'm sure there will be some points here and there (perhaps in the nonacademic) awarded for like an Honours or something.
