waitlisted... offered... need to differ to finish Masters..

This is a question I am hoping someone who actually knows the answer will address:

 

I was originally waitlisted at UofT. I received an acceptance letter friday. The offer was conditional on me finishing my masters thesis (including defence) by August 1st, 2002. That is not possible.

 

The letter mentions that I will need to contact UofT and write a letter to explain my situation if I cannot meet their condition/need to differ.

 

I included my projected thesis completion in the application materials.

 

Will UofT allow me to differ and start medschool in next year?

 

I am calling UofT tomorow morning (first thing), but cannot wait to find out...
