Euthanasia - severely mentally & physically infirm when society finds it too costly?

Recommended Posts

This is a continuation of another thread entitled "Sticky Ethical Question".

I think the mere suggestion of the topic of euthanasia for the purpose of cost control to society is ludicrous, however, there appear to be a range of ideas of our responsibilities as future doctors to our patients and to society in situations where we can do little more for our patients and seemingly they have no quality of life, while being a drain on the finite financial resources of society. So, it has been argued that scoiety should allocate these sources and professional resources where they may be more effciently used for the greater good of the greater number of our people.
