MedicineWannaBe
Hey everyone, What did you guys think of the MCAT? Here's what I think: PS: Fairly difficult (physics especially, general chem was ok) VR: Fairly easy WS: Good prompts BS: Overall pretty good Overall I think I did ok, nothing stellar but I don't think I did horrible either. PastaInhaler
Really, is that how you found it? medmal
I thought it was a fair test -- comparable to the practice AAMC MCAT's. As for the individual breakdown, I thought PS: Was pretty fair, although I had some trouble with the first electric cell passage. Everything else was reasonable. VR: was exactly like the practice tests. No passage really seemed to difficult, although I was pressed for time at the end which never happened in practice. WS: were great. Better than I could have hoped. BS: was decent. As someone else said, not too heavy on the knowledge, a lot of VR type reasoning problems. I feel like I did pretty good too, but I don't want to get my hopes up yet.
MedicineWannaBe
Yeah...wouldn't it be sweet if that electric cell passage was experimental? haha. I think that passage caused me to panic a little on the PS section.
medmal
Yeah, I definitely had butterflies in my stomach as I worked my way through that. I was very scared that the rest of the test would be as hard as that. But, at least for me, that was the most difficult passage of the whole test. What a way to start.. It's meant to wear people down.
medmal
Really? Why don't they do that on the practice tests?
PastaInhaler
I don't know, but they should.
iamcool
PS wasn't too bad, the general chem compensated for the first passage VR/WS were both pretty fair BS was pretty easy compared to the practice tests I feel like I beat my 32O from last year so I'm pretty happy with it. I guess we'll see on Oct 13th!
Swagga
I think the curve will be extremely unforgiving... especially biosci....I felt the same way as you guys abou the exam.
medmal
I think the curve will be extremely unforgiving... especially biosci....I felt the same way as you guys abou the exam. The marks are out. Biosci was unforgiving -- got a 9. But 32 R is decent enough so I shouldn't complain too much.. Will have to wait and see if I get any interviews then decide on a re-write. medmal
Nice. Wish I had that split instead of 11,12,9..
anti-dentite23
I'm guessing 80% of people still haven't found out the scores were released early. More people will probably post on Tuesday.
medmal
Yeah, I'm glad they were released early. Although I have been able to concentrate on other things for a month, I was not looking forward to a weekend of anticipation.. Plus, it gives me time now to consider non-Ontario schools that are due on Oct.
iamcool
40N (12VR, 14PS, 14BS) Still in shock! Writing sample really pisses me off but I'm not in a position to complain!
sfinch
The sad thing is that the N will probably get you rejected from UWO and Queen's pronto, and UofT, Ottawa and NOSM won't care. However that 12 will help you at MAC. Depending on your GPA, applying to the states is a good option - even the top schools.
The Law
The most sensible advice I've heard from you. 40N post. For the love of pancakes and other breakfast goods, Pleas apply to top tier schools such as harvard. Chances are you will be able to afford this because you can win scholarships with that. You can PM me about your app if you want some advice about US schools, I am so excited about this because of the prospects!!! When a 40N can potentially slip through the cracks at every school in Ontario, without even an interview... there's a sign that SOMETHING is amiss with our admissions system. Lol, for the love of pancakes and other breakfast goods... will it ever stop being this tedious trying to get in?!
PastaInhaler
For those with the great scores, how many good hours of studying did you put in?
iamcool
I studied about 10 hours per week from Mid-June to Sept. In the last few weeks before the exam I did ALL the AAMC exams. I also took physiology this past year so I think that helped me with the BS more than anything!
