weirdity
hi everyone, i read through the past threads, and i was wondering if anyone had any recent good experiences with psychiatry clerkship electives? i had heard that mcgill was good generally...? i am particularly interested in psychotherapy, so if anyone did work at a school that emphasized that in particular, i would be very interested. any details, experiences, names though would be tremendously appreciated. thanks! chemgirl
I've had good experiences at Ottawa (Eating Disorders Program), Calgary (Early Psychosis Clinics and Foothills Inpatient) and here in Edmonton (Consultation-Liaison). The Eating Disorders Treatment Center in Ottawa provided a lot of opportunity to observe psychotherapy tailored to that particular patient population. The other electives didn't have much, if any, psychotherapy component. HTH!
chemgirl
I am currently having an excellent experience at the Edgewood residential addiction treatment program in Nanaimo, BC. They are really into teaching and addiction is something that we don't learn a lot about.
