psychiatry clerkship electives?

Recommended Posts

hi everyone,

i read through the past threads, and i was wondering if anyone had any recent good experiences with psychiatry clerkship electives? i had heard that mcgill was good generally...? i am particularly interested in psychotherapy, so if anyone did work at a school that emphasized that in particular, i would be very interested.

any details, experiences, names though would be tremendously appreciated. :)

thanks!

I've had good experiences at Ottawa (Eating Disorders Program), Calgary (Early Psychosis Clinics and Foothills Inpatient) and here in Edmonton (Consultation-Liaison). The Eating Disorders Treatment Center in Ottawa provided a lot of opportunity to observe psychotherapy tailored to that particular patient population. The other electives didn't have much, if any, psychotherapy component. HTH!

I am currently having an excellent experience at the Edgewood residential addiction treatment program in Nanaimo, BC. They are really into teaching and addiction is something that we don't learn a lot about.
