loseyourself
Hey guys, I'm wondering how much training in a particular radiology residency program in Canada opens up doors for fellowships. I understand that some of the bigger schools frequently have residents landing highly sought after fellowships, but does this play a huge role? I was under the impression that Canadian grads from any program can succeed in the fellowship hunt as long as the overall package is strong, but I have been hearing otherwise from people at different schools. Just curious if anyone has any insight on this. Cheers
Who M.D.
I've heard even at smaller schools (e.g. UofS) residents manage to secure some high-profile US fellowships.

I met residents at Memorial and at UofManitoba that were going to some pretty high profile places in the US to do fellowships.
Lactic Folly
The faculty at different Canadian schools likely have connections to different US institutions - is this what you have heard? Compared to applying for residency, the system has more capacity for fellows as not everyone chooses to do a fellowship. Also, not every subspecialty fellowship offered at a high-profile institution is equally competitive.
