canucks89
Hey everyone, So I just took a Kaplan practice test and I got 8PS/9BS/10VR. I know it isn't very good, but I still have lots of studying to do. I was just wondering if the Kaplan tests are harder than the actual MCAT. I've heard that they were harder and longer... Thanks
terryann
the Kaplan tests are harder. That is a great score if you still have alot of time to study..especially VR.
thereisnotry
I found the Kaplan tests to be unrepresentative of the actual MCAT. I was getting around 8 PS/13 VR/10 BS on the couple of Kaplan practice tests that I took, and ended up scoring 12/11/12 on the actual day.
AdamP
yeah the kaps were always harder for me too the ps especially was way more complicated than any of the real ones
neoteny
So are the Kaplan ones harder than the TPR diagnostics? I'm not sure quite what to think after scoring about 4 points lower in the TPR diagnostic VR section compared to the EK 101 tests...
Guest p0stman
I remember doing one Kaplan sample diagnostic test and did find it harder than all the AAMC tests I've done. I think they made it hard intentionally to freak you out into taking their course...
panda__eyes
I found the Kaplan Tests harder. They also felt like inaccurate representations of the actual format of the MCAT particularly the verbal component.
karimlalani
i have the 2003 kaplan fl's....and i was wondering if they too are harder than the actual thing...any one know ?
medguy5367
Yes, Kaplan tests are harder. It has to do with their "guarantee". By making their own tests so much harder, you will definitely find the real thing easy and see an improvement in your score.
thatonekid
+1 to all the above comments. I found my Kaplan test scores were lower than my actual MCAT scores.
Claudin
What about the difficulty of Kaplan's VR compared to the AAMC's? I can average 11-13 on Kaplan's VR, but a 6 on AAMC 10... wtf is going on??
canucks89
What about the difficulty of Kaplan's VR compared to the AAMC's? I can average 11-13 on Kaplan's VR, but a 6 on AAMC 10... wtf is going on?? Same here!! Well, I'm not quite as good as you on Kaplan VR (I get 10-11), but I got a 6 on AAMC #3!! Weird... seeking1
So, wait....is there a general consensus that Kaplan practice tests are way harder for PS and possibly BS?
mm88
Kaplan diagnostic was retarded. I scored a composite of 18 on it while averaging in the low 30s on the AAMC FLs. Kaplan verbal for their FLs and sectionals are actually quite different from the AAMC FLs. Once I got the hang of it I scored 13/14 on them while on the AAMC FL, I've never had better than an 11.
