PoA
Hey guys, I'm currently researching more about this field and its education path, while figuring out schools (leaning more towards USA) I've found that some med schools are better suited for research while some for primary care. I want to know what's the difference and if there's anything else I should know about them. Thanks, -N
Ollie
Research = research (pretty self-explanatory I think). This is your big schools and big/academic hospitals. Primary Care = Basically describes generalists (family docs, general peds, general internal medicine, general ObsGyn) as opposed to uber-sub specialists you get at academic centres. If you are looking to the US, you should check out the studentdoctor.net forums.
georgeshoemoney
The concept of primary health care was defined by the World Health Organization in 1978 as both a level of health service delivery and an approach to health care practice. Primary care, as the provision of essential health care, is the basis of a health care system.
