difference between Primary Care and Research

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I'm currently researching more about this field and its education path, while figuring out schools (leaning more towards USA) I've found that some med schools are better suited for research while some for primary care. I want to know what's the difference and if there's anything else I should know about them.

Thanks,

-N

Research = research (pretty self-explanatory I think). This is your big schools and big/academic hospitals.

Primary Care = Basically describes generalists (family docs, general peds, general internal medicine, general ObsGyn) as opposed to uber-sub specialists you get at academic centres.

If you are looking to the US, you should check out the studentdoctor.net forums.
