war485
I finished/submitted/completed part 1 over a week ago. Did anyone actually get log-in info to do part 2 of the application or are we supposed to submit that on paper?

j8848
I am in the same position, I submitted my application on Friday am. My visa was charged and I got the confirmation emails but no notification of step 2. I sent them an email and tried to call but it keeps going into the answering machine. Did you have any luck getting in touch with them?

xi88
You all know the questions anyway. Work on them now, and just copy and paste them over when you get the email. Dal tends to be slow about these things. Last year, they had to postpone deadlines because they were so slow.

war485
got my login stuff and the link for step 2 Friday afternoon. I guess they're just taking a while to process stuff. If you still didn't get step 2 stuff, ask for it ASAP!
future_doc
In addition to the other names given elsewhere, please note that kylamonkey has also kindly consented to read and make editing suggestions to your 1,500 word essay. It is somewhat of an arduous task as being so long, it can take up to 2 hours to do an editing job. Good luck guys!

gb35
Congrats gb35! (don't know about any sort of confirmation) Thanks! Now the wait until Sept. 7 beings to see which, if any, Ontario schools I should bother applying to!

gb35
Remember, the wder the net used to catch fish, the more likely you will catch fish! Haha yes, but applying to Western and Queen's with, say, a 9 in verbal is like trying to catch a great white with a fishing rod and a 20 pound test line. Otto
Hey guys! I'm having a problem with the step 2 essay application page. On both Word and UNIX word count, my essay is 1486 words long. However, when I copy and paste to the step 2 essay site, and click "word count", the essay becomes 1516 words long. I've checked it with the technical staff at the Dalhousie University library and they tell me that the system is poorly designed as the application page's word count function is picking up apostrophes, hyphens and periods. For example, I.W.K= 3 words, eye-opening= 2 words, employee's= 2 words. I'm going to submit my essay the way I've written it and send an email to Carolyn Pelham at Dalhousie explaining the problem. I encourage others to do the same. Thanks for your help, Otto EDIT: As it turns out, you can't submit an essay to the application site that is perceived as over 1500 words. So I am now going to have to make intentional grammatical errors to send this thing in!!
future_doc
Otto, I can quickly cut down some words for you if you like.
HBP
Yeah, I was also curious about that. Good thing the word count was 1497 for me. Word was giving me about 20-25 words less. Shouldn't be too hard for you to just cut out some words though (rewording, writing concise, etc.).
Otto
Yeah. I got it down to 1497 words (on their site) through some concise editing. Thanks for the offer FutureDoc. What a strangely annoying thing to happen.

Addy K
I also like Dal's system, and their admission process for that matter. They get back to you in a reasonable amount of time for interviews and decisions as opposed to almost every other school in Canada that takes 3-4 months for interviews then another 3-4 months for final decisions..
