I am considering doing more at the university this year--it's simpler b/c I'll be on the campus. I generally take on ECs that are personally interesting...sometimes some are expected of me. In general I agree; the premed club at my school is useless and lame, and the club members tend to be the kids who are overenthusiastic about being "pre-med".
