galaxy012
For Canadian grads, if we don't pass the exam, we can't sign orders or write scripts. If that's the same for IMGs, you might want to write it as soon as possible.
MrKhiladi
Im not an IMG, iam a US grad.If thats the case, than that means i cant write scripts during first year residency?can someone else clarify this info cause this is news to me? SaltExpert
my understanding is that you would need co-signature. at some hospitals you might get away by signing" discussed with Dr. blah blah" (as the med clerks do). Make sure you register to take the next exam

GGGSaint
US grads are not considered IMGs, if they are canadian citizens or permanent residents ++. They're CMG's.
entkeener
US grad = IMG CMG = Canadian grad Salt expert is correct Umm DEFINITELY CMG's.
Guest copacetic
the key definition is whether or not you got your degree at an LCME accredited school. The LCME accredits medical schools in canada and USA. Granted, there are "american schools" in the carribean (st. George, ross, etc) but these are not LCME accredited. Thus anybody who graduates from these schools is considered an IMG. Granted, Canadians and PRs who graduate from LCME accredited schools in the united states are not truly CMGs quite simply because they did not actually graduate in canada, but for all intents and purposes they are equivalent.
