ilovesummer
So I am a 2nd degree student... am almost finished, thank goodness. I screwed up my first degree, but am ballin' in the 2nd. If I decide to go for med, I'd be applying this fall for admission for 2012. Which would make me 25yrs old when I start (if i get in). Does that seem too old? I certainly won't be the fresh faced 21 yr old that gets in after 3 yrs of undergrad. Anyone know what the avg age of students in meds is? I'm starting to feel like the clock is ticking with friends getting married and having kids.
Nutrition major
25 is definitely not too old. You will not look old. No one will notice that you are a bit older. Medical students are mature, intelligent people who know that they should be friendly in class and labs with all classmates, regardless of age. thehumanmacbook
Most medical schools have an average entry age of around 24-26, to my understanding. There have been older applicants, so don't worry. Age is not really a factor to admissions.
kylamonkey
Age is just a number. I actually think age 25 IS the average accepted age, although there are probably a few oldies like me pushing the average up. That said, I look and feel young, and most people in my classes, although they know I'm older, I don't think they realize I'm 12 yrs older... Renin
Avg age on admission in my class was 24.
astrogirl
If I get in this year, I'll be almost 29 when I start.
thehumanmacbook
Québec would be the exception. Usually about half the class is from CÉGEP and Québec also has more students skipping grades in primary school, so it's not unusual to find 18 y/o's in your class. Our average was 22 y/o in sept '08. I wish I was french.
