Zack Morris
do all the canadian citizen img's who match through carms (after coming from a carib school for example), even the ones who get surgery, derm, etc in places like toronto have to complete an ROS agreement? Thanks everyone
RDB
In ontario, matching into both 1st and 2nd interation into ANYTHING has an ROS attached to it commensurate with how long the residency program is. In Ontario this also means you are allowed to practice anywhere as long as its not the GTA and Ottawa. This also means you can somehow practice in richmond hill, which some how didn't make it into their definition of GTA. In some provinces, from what I've heard, matching into 1st round IMG spots means an ROS, but if you match into a non-IMG dedicated spot in 2nd round there is no ROS. There is no ROS in 1st or 2nd interation in Manitoba or Quebec but the qualification for Quebec is that you must have been a Quebec resident for some time. Albertan IMGs match via AIMG which has the same residence stipulations as Quebec but I'm not sure about ROS. Sask is completely off limits for IMG. The maritimes I have no clue. Hope this helps! RDB
http://www.healthforceontario.ca/upload/en/work/ros_on_map_en.pdf that's the list of exclusions. Alastriss you're at schulich so the IMG situation doesn't apply to you. My post was more directed at Zack Morris' situation (ie IMG matching into 1st or 2nd round).
