Mourning Cloak
Question: Will it be a boost on Residency application or will it have a negative impact b/c one is out of clinical practice for long time. Answer: Being out of clinical practice for for "a long time" is a BIG BIG BIG red flag (bad thing). Doing a Master's at the expense of recent clinical experience will most likely have a big NEGATIVE impact. Consult with the program director of the residency program you'd like to enter. What can I do? In terms of getting a residency, the most beneficial things are: 1) Canadian clinical experience 2) Great LOR from that Canadian experience Where can I learn more? All matching for Canadian residencies is done through CaRMS. Read more about the basic requirements and provincial eligibilities here.
