I'm not in med yet (im applying for 2006!!!!!) but in my undergrad years, I found myself rarely looking back to old textbooks. also, med is much more "clinical" based than standard bio textbooks therefore I doubt that you will need them that much. also, editions and information change rapidly and if you ever need to refer back to something, you can always check the bookshelf on PubMed or go to the library cheers!
