medhope2011
Can anyone explain what med portal is? Is it a way to see when classmates are online as a chat function or are notes and lectures posted on it as well?
thehumanmacbook
OMG PORTALS. Did you know? In the bottom stairwell of MDCL you will find some very interesting...scrawls regarding portals. Check it out if you have the time. "The cake is a lie" is there. Med Portal is somewhat of a community space to share news and post information amongst students. I'm not a med student before, but I've checked it out - lectures can be posted. I'm not too sure about a chat function though.
zxcv
It like WebCT used in undergrad, except its designed by McMaster only for medical students.

It's basically a "blackboard" type software with two main divisions ... one for med students and one for residents. Once you log into your medportal account and go to your e-mail, it's essentially a "gchat" so you'll be able to see users who you've e-mailed with through your medportal addy and their online status. Notes, class syllabus, class schedules etc are all posted on there as well.
