OMA discounted cell phone plan?

Recommended Posts

I've heard from various premeds and med students that the Ontario Medical Association offers discounted cell phone plans? However, I cannot find any information on this from their website or by searching google. Anyone here have further information? How do I go about signing up?

Thanks in advance.

If you live in Toronto, PM me and I'll give you the contact information for the Rogers person in-charge. I am on the OMA plan and its a decent saving depending on what you were on before.

There's the BCMA plan but it's not good enough for me.

I was wondering the same thing and haven't been able to find anything online so far either. Does anyone have any additional input as to who to contact to find out what's available from the OMA?

have you started meds yet?

you should be able to get the info from whoever your external/cfms rep is.

if you haven't started yet you'll have to wait or bug people in the upper years for who the contact is.

i'm on it right now, it's pretty good, like 17 bucks for all the stuff you need, light on text though, only like 125. i have a 6gb/30$ data plan though so it ends up i still pay a decent amount.

If you don't use that much data, switch to the Flex data plan (from retentions).

$10 for 100mb, add $5 for 100-150mb, add $5 for 150-500mb, add $5 for 500-1gb.

That way you pay based on your usage, rather than a flat $30.

The six has been nice the past couple months because I'm between houses and have been teathering a lot. But yeah when I'm not doing that I use next to none. The thing is the 30 for 6 is decent in canada right now especially if I get a tablet in the future. The flex plan ends up being 25 for 1 if I read that right. Which is probably more than enough with a phone. But pushing it with a tablet.

Its actually crazy how fast it adds up. I did some email and facebook while teathering and logged like 200 mb in less than an hour. With no porn!
