amalwa12
Hi guys, So i've dug up some of the past threads on advice for the writing sample, but I'm still having trouble figuring out good examples for prompts. I don't get any ideas when I read a prompt. How do you think I should prepare for this section (exam in September)? Right now, I'm trying to read sample essays online to get a feel for how others approach the prompts but I still can't get concrete examples of my own. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks! newcanmeds2011
The best thing to do is to watch a Canadian newscast as on any given day they touch on several topics that can be usefully. Its great because it gives you the chance to relax and if you are a visual or auditory learner, hearing and watching it can help with retention on test day. For WS you can't have an example memorized for any prompt but the best you can do is find a few example for each category that are broad and perhaps widely applicable. Daniel
Try reading the Economist, the authors provide analysis on global events and its also a very interesting read. Might help a little with verbal as well.
