wall.flower
This might be a stupid question, but I honeslty have no clue and I'd like to know. Can one specialized after they've chosen family medicine. For example, can a family doctor be specialized in like children or something like that? Lactic Folly
1) third year of additional skills training (emergency medicine is most sought after, but pediatrics is also available) after two years family medicine residency 2) developing an area of interest within your practice. e.g. some family medicine physicians specialize in low-risk obstetrics 3) re-entry to Royal College residency training if you wish to become a pediatrician
Lactic Folly
I remember reading one of the main family medicine textbooks that described the field as specializing in common conditions. On my family medicine rotation, people would ask about all sorts of lumps/bumps/spots/aches/pains/asymmetries.. I could not be sure if they were within normal range, but my preceptor was able to reassure them.
