I can't go back.....help!!!!

Hi all:

 

I need advice

 

I currently completed my first year at an Ontario med school. While I love the stuff we are learning its some of the other students that make me wonder if I will be able to bear to go back. I am an overweight female and many of the other females find this a good reason to avoid me, not talk to me, act snobbish and make cruel jokes at my expense.

 

I hate having a group of them talking about me and saying things within earshot such as, "Wow who would want her as their doctor? Doctors are to be role models for good health, maybe we should start a fund to help give her $20 a month to go to the gym." Or things like where's __________, oh I'll check the cafeteria!

 

Honestly, these types of comments are really hurtful and I haven't faced this type of stuff since grade 9. I don't know why they have it in for me and my weight. After all as doctors we will have to help and aid all people from society. Will these girls refuse to treat overweight patients or patients not as good looking as themselves?

 

Does anyone have any solutions. I am at a loss since I honestly did not face this type of hate since grade 9. The last place I thought I would find this type of ignorance and immaturity was in medschool, but here it is!
