Job Prospects in Public Health & Preventative Medicine

For a big city like Vancouver, how hard is it to find a job after graduating from a Public Health residency? Are there more jobs available than the number of graduates (seems like there are quite a number of residents in the UBC program)? Are there many staff likely to retire in the next 5-10 years?

I understand that most people will have a CCFP license and can do family practice while waiting for their ideal job (let's say, medical health officer), but I am hoping that this doesn't mean waiting for 10-15+ years.

Thank you for any responses! :)
