Commuters

Recommended Posts

For those originally from Toronto, did you commute or feel that you had to move downtown?

Once you start medschool, if you have a more than 30-minute commute, you have to move closer. Otherwise, it'll take its toll on your academic and social life. I know a few ppl put up with longer commutes, but they often end up staying over at friends' places during the busy weeks. And trusting the TTC to get you on time for 8AM Friday classes is not a good idea - especially since being late means you get docked for unprofessionalism.

I concur with anxious.

I commuted through undergrad and grad school, but finally moved downtown, as classes are usually from 9/10 am to 4/5 pm and these are peak rush hours on the TTC. Most of the time, you won't get a chance to sleep or read or relax on the TTC during those hours. Plus, getting to the hospital for ASCM at 8 am on a Friday - simply cannot trust the TTC to get you there.
