Guest crang
Would you recommend doing any particular reading before beginning 1st year med. school? Did you find it about the same pace as pre-med or much more time-involved?
Guest Ian Wong
Don't bother with pre-reading for med school. They'll teach you everything you need to know then, so there's not much point doing the work in advance. The pace of med school is pretty brisk, but definitely manageable. Guest Cassiopeia04
Yes, they start off with the basics, but the pace is much faster than undergrad courses. However it is still manageable. I agree there's no pre-reading necessary, but it also depends on your background. Coming from a non-bio background (engineering), I certainly found 1st year more challenging than my classmates. (For some of my classmates, it was all review material for the 1st 4 months) I didn't do any pre-reading, and looking back, I don't think it would have significantly made a difference. If you do feel the urge to pre-read/review, I'd recommend anatomy- it was a major chunk of the curriculum in the 1st 4 months at Queen's.
