Write your own reference letter?

Hi All,

As the carms madness continues, I'm faced with yet again another prospect. My senior resident, who agreed to write me a reference letter for those programs will to accept 3+1, emailed me last night asking me to write it, and he will simply edit it a little and send it in.

While I am grateful to him, I'm a little worried about this. What would you guys include? How would you organize it? ANY THOUGHTS would be very helpful and appreciated!

Thanks! And goodluck all.

This is very touchy (ethically speaking).

But then again, I don't think it's so different than asking a letter writer to "please mention (.....) in your letter"

I know this happens quite often (although most people don't publicize it) but I still don't think it's right.

If the resident doesnt have time or doesnt want to write a letter, he or she should simply decline.
