Crane
I'm applying to several different graduate programs and so I need multiple reference letters. Would a prof be annoyed/comfortable if I asked for 4-5 letters? What would be the best way to approach a prof with such a request? nick
I think that's a normal request. The prof would just print out the letter 5 times and sign it 5 times. I dunno, maybe it's a point of courtesy to give the prof addressed, stamped envelopes?
astrogirl
I think it's actually more unusual to only ask for 1 than it is to ask for multiples. Usually people are applying to more than one place. It's not a big deal at all, and profs expect it.
Lactic Folly
I dunno, maybe it's a point of courtesy to give the prof addressed, stamped envelopes? Yes, do make their lives easier by providing addressed/stamped envelopes, in addition to giving them clear instructions and enough lead time. sparkles3288
They shouldn't be annoyed, provided you give enough time in advance. Either they print it 5x and sign it 5x, which is no big deal, or they modify the to individual in the letter. They've done this a lot, don't worry about it.
