J.P.87
Hi folks, I am a 3rd year med student at Ottawa and I am starting to think about where I would like to do my 4th year electives (and eventually where I would like to apply for residency). I was hoping someone could shed some light on the experiences (personal or otherwise) of a non-French speaking student/resident with respect to the difficulties caused by the language barrier? I understand McGill is an english program and that speaking french is not a requirement but I'm also aware that you are bound to encounter patients who do not speak a word of english (I've seen it in Ottawa too, but very rarely). I imagine this happens quite often, no? Thanks for any help you guys can offer on the topic!
