Guest Any suggestions
Hi everyone. I'm now starting to choose majors, and i'm wondering if anyone can suggest any that I can find a job with if I don't get into medicine. Right now, i'm thinking of Biochem, Microbio, Physiology or Genetics.
Guest Ian Wong
There's a ton of old postings regarding this very topic (I think we hashed it out less than a month ago) in this very forum, as well as some links in the Premed101.com FAQ, which is the very first message in this forum. Perhaps look at some of these messages, as there are some really thorough points that people have answered already. Ian UBC, Med

Guest UWOMED2005
I went into Biochemistry for pretty much that reason (career backup in case I didn't go into medicine.) Turns out with biochem you pretty much have to either do grad work or work in the US! There are relatively few degrees that are intentionally designed to get you a job. That's pretty much the realm of the professional schools (engineering, MBA, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, medicine, etc.) On the other hand, many/most degree programs will help you enter the workforce.
