Do subspecialities have their own licensing exam?

Surgery has a core exam after 2nd year with the Royal College (I learned this as I am filling out my info for IM exam). They do this exam, and the exam at the end of their residency. For medicine, if you go into, say cardiology, you will have the internal medicine Royal College exam during R4, and the cardiology royal college exam during R6. If you do general internal medicine, only one exam. If you do microbiology-infectiology, then you have 3 royal college exams (ouch!).

As for fellowship, no examination what so ever with the Royal College. Might have some tests with the institution where you're training though, will find out about that later on.
