Go to law school or defer for a year and apply to meds?

Hello all,

 

I'd like to hear your advice.

 

I've been recently accepted into law school. However, I've come to the realization that I'd probably be happier attending medical school (something I had considered in high school, but for various reasons ended up doing an engineering major). Now due to other circumstances in my life, I'm seriously considering medical school, as I feel I am now ready to make this commitment.

 

I'm looking to complete my bio pre-reqs this summer, as well as write the MCAT. Or else I could do it during the following year.

 

Now would it be better to:

 

1) Defer law school for a year, while applying to medical school. Find a temporary job - I doubt the job would have anything to do with healthcare.

 

2) Attend law school while applying to medical school. How do med schools view this?

 

I'm leaning towards #2, as I also am genuinely interested in learning about the law, and any other subjects for that matter.

 

Anyone been successful in this transition? I am sure I'd get funny questions at the interview, if I made it to that stage.

I have a potentially huge dilemma. I am currently in first year university with first sem gpa more or less higher than 3.7. What I don't have is ANY volunteer experience (or community related...). None. Naked. Am I bound to be rejected or still maintain hope?
