applying to the states, when should I sumbit?

Does it matter if I submit my application on June 1st or sometime in July? I know it is rolling admissions. But from what I've read on school sites they dont even send out interviews until August. So would they even differentiate between an application that comes in right away or a few weeks later? I only ask b/c I'm not going to be living in the same city as most of the people who will write my reference letters so it will be a little difficult coordinating everything.
