inspiring-curmudgeon
Hi everyone, Just wondering what kind of reference letters radiology programs are looking for. People have been telling me that it's good to have both surgery and internal preceptors writing a reference letter. Is there any detriment to having all your letters written by radiologists? justletmein
Pick the people who will write you the best letters. Period. Sometimes an internist who loved you will write a much stronger letter than a radiologist who met you a couple of times during your 2 week elective. Don't over-analyze it. sarakj
clinical RF letters are way more valuable than radiology type letters. They want to see if you have good team work and commutation skills and so on.. these are more applicable when doing a clinical rotation than radiology electives. and ask people who can write you very STRONG ones.. all these are required but again not enough to get you an interview.. cardiomegaly
Make sure you take a peek at the CaRMs website too - often they specify the minimum amount of letters they want from an academic physician in that field. I think there is one radiology program that wants a letter from a radiologist, surgeon AND internist!
Lactic Folly
Agree with above. I think most schools ask for one radiology letter, but after there is no advantage to having more radiology letters unless they are very strong and personalized.
