We had more Internal Medicine matches than Family?!?

Whoah, that's odd.

(Whoops - just realized I forgot to add the Rural Family to the Family spots)

So a total of 22 family med, 15 London, 7 rural... which is 22% of the class, going into the second round match.

As an aside, that is 97 people from 2004 class entering the match, and one from 2002; no reason disclosed (sorry).

As a second aside, I have found out about two of the people who went unmatched: 1 suicided into plastics with no backup, the other ditto with dermatology.

Here's UBC's Match List for 2004. This includes the unmatchees from CaRMS 2003, for a total of 116 applicants. A total of 6 people went unmatched after the first round, going after the usual competitive list of specialties (Ophtho, Derm, etc), leaving 110 matched applicants after the first round. Notables to this matchlist include tons of Radiology and Anesthesiology, as well as tons of Family Medicine in both urban and rural settings. This year's class was very interested in Family Medicine, which is a good thing for our province. :)

7 Radiology

12 Anesthesiology

11 Internal Medicine

2 Neurosurgery

2 Radiation Oncology

1 Dermatology

2 Ophthalmology

1 Plastic Surgery

1 Urology

4 Orthopedic Surgery

5 Pediatrics

2 Pediatric Neurology

2 General Surgery

1 PM&R

6 Laboratory Medicine

2 Anatomical Pathology

8 Psychiatry

3 Obstetrics and Gynecology

9 Family Medicine, Rural

As an aside, I'd love to see the matchlist for all the other schools! There's never been a compilation of all these matchlists before, at least not one that's been publically available, and we finally have the moderator numbers up high enough that it should be possible to get a match list for most every school in Canada.

If you happen to have the matchlist for your school, please post it here. Thanks! :)

I don't think there was much interest in the 5-year Emerg program from this year's class, so no, no FRCPC EM matches from UBC this year. Last year we matched 3 into EM.

Heya,

Any of the moderators from Alberta, Calgary, Sask, Manitoba, Ottawa, U of T, McGill, Memorial (and U of Montreal, U of Sherbrooke, and Laval U as well!) able to post up their med school's match lists?
