AC2014
Hi Guys, I am applying for visiting electives at the U of A. Just wondering if anyone can give their opinion on how to best schedule electives. Would it be better to do 2 weeks each in 3 different areas or would a longer 3 week elective in only 2 areas give me a better experience. For any family medicine residents or clerks.. what do you suggest as good electives in edmonton or which electives have you had an over all positive experience in. Cheers! cardiomegaly
Depends on what you're doing. General surgery? Often 3 weeks is best at your preferred location. Same for internal med or emergency. 2 weeks would likely suffice for things like radiology or derm or ophtho. Check of the website to see the time limit on how long you can stay as well. Any of the academic family clinics would have good experience teaching wise or I've heard great things about the Allin clinic as well.
AC2014
I was looking to do 2 weeks each in family medicine (hospitalist), rheum, and child psych. Thoughts on those for length and appropriate references for Family Medicine residency?
