DaKirbster
A question that I see commonly asked is something along the lines of: How did you do on your AAMC practice tests compared to the real thing? I think this is a valid question, and its something I myself wonder, so I thought I would start a thread where people can post how they did on their AAMC practice tests compared to their actual MCAT score. So please post your stats! Preferably in a format along the lines of: AAMC 3R - PS/VR/BS AAMC 4R - X/Y/Z ... AAMC 11R - #/#/# AAMC average: X.5/Y.2/Z.8 Actual MCAT: A/B/C Feel free to comment on how prep company practice test scores compared to your AAMC scores. I am taking my MCAT one week from today and I have all my scores from 3 - 11 so I will be posting my stats once I get my final results Thanks, post away please
DaKirbster
One thing I can comment on at this point is a comparison between AAMC and Kaplan practice tests. Overall, I've found the scaled scores I've gotten from Kaplan have been similar to AAMC - maybe very slightly lower, but not much. But a noticeable difference for me is the difference in test difficulty. I've found Kaplan questions to be quite a bit harder than AAMC questions, in general. All that means is that you need a lower raw score in a Kaplan test (eg. 40/52) to get the same scaled score as a higher raw score on an AAMC test (eg. 46/52). I have found that this applies to all sections (PS/VR/BS).
Prof.A.DumbleDore
Great idea. Should also post the dates people took them, allows people to see how long it took to see improvements, etc. There is a similar thread on sdn as well.
DaKirbster
Well I just got my results, so I will post my stats as promised. Test PS VR BS AAMC 3R 12 10 12 AAMC 4R 12 11 12 AAMC 5R 13 10 12 AAMC 6R 13 10 12 AAMC 7R 13 11 14 AAMC 8R 14 10 13 AAMC 9R 13 11 13 AAMC 10 13 11 11 AAMC 11 14 12 12 Average: 13.0 10.7 12.3 Actual MCAT: 12 11 12 I took AAMC 3 in January, did AAMC 4 mid-March, then did the rest once per week in the weeks right before my MCAT in mid-July. So as it turns out, yes, AAMC practice tests are great predictors of your score on the actual thing - though you might score a bit lower on the real thing. I know I made some dumb mistakes that leave me wondering if I could have easily gotten 13/11/13 or something, but overall I am happy!
