Anne
1. I go to NOSM and for third year will be getting a great rural family med foundation, which in addition to family clinic will include a lot of inpatients at a rural regional centre, obstetrics, general surgery, and emergency but not much else. We do not do any block rotations until 4th year. I feel like more and more I want to do family but I wonder if that is because all I have ever done is rural family other than observerships in different types or surgery, rads, anesthesiology, peds. I am a "leave no stone unturned" kind of person and am wondering how one might go about ruling out specialties and narrowing down some to try electives in. I LIKE everything, I think that's the problem. 2. What resources would you go back and read again or read before clerkship? 3. NOSM is very self directed so I have inadvertently studied a ton of USMLE step 1 resources over the past two years. Is there any point in writing it? Any positives or negatives?
