reality
Hey guys! Just wondering whether it's worth applying this late in the game....I know it's REALLY pushing it. GPA: 88%, 4.0 (according to AMCAS conversion scale on this forum ) MCAT: 30 ( 10 PS, 9, V, 11 BS) ECs: A couple of long term volunteer activities 250+ hr, but most are ~75 hr. Some shadowing experience, a few unique leadership positions and volunteering abroad. No significant research experience. If not this year, what about next year? Thinking about retaking the MCAT... Also, is it be late to apply to DO schools as well? Thank you so much
TheBoss
Probably too late I'm afraid. Without a stellar MCAT, chances are probably very weak now if you don't have US citizenship. Also, recalculate your GPA. Do not average the percent grades of your courses and convert the percent average to GPA. Convert every individual grade using whatever conversion scale you think they're using for your school. Then average all those grades (the ones converted to a grade out of 4.0), weighted by credit hours for each course.

Your MCAT might be low for MD schools, but it's really damned good for DO schools, and your cGPA speaks for itself There's simply no way you won't get into a DO school with a 4.0cGPA and 30 MCAT.... advair250
Read your posts, and see you're from BC. Aren't you gauranteed an interview with that GPA? Unless cost isn't a factor;) probably a bit late for the MD cycle, it you applied earlier you probably had a decent chance. If you retook the mcat even better. A few points in verbal would open even more doors! Great job!
