DO schools

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I would like to know:

To become an osteopatic medecine doctor in Canada (the equivalent of what they offer in DO schools of USA), do you need to do medicine ? and specialize in residence after ?

Thank you,

Ana

There are no DO schools in Canada, or not the kind youre thinking of that exist in the states. Graduates of osteopathic colleges in Canada are not considered physicians. You would need to attend a DO school in the US. The DO from the US is a recognized medical degree in Canada. You need to do residency regardless of what medical degree you have. If you want to do it in canada, you're considered IMG

This.

Prepare for the invasion of DOs Canada! :P

We'll likely hit 100+ matruculants a year by the 2015 entering class (i.e. in 2 years) - on par with the number going into USMD schools each year. Much sooner than I expected.

NOSM has a class size of ~60 year. We basically have a NOSM sized school training Canadian USDOs now. Like it or lot, CMGs need to start getting used to these numbers, and returning DOs in their ranks.
