GPs, RNs, and NPs

In preparation for a possible interview, I would like to gain a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a GP, RN, and NP and be able to explain the differences.

 

Would any of you know where I can find accurate and comprehensive information on these topics?

I am unsure about the ethics involving a doctor's safety when treating - if there is an obligation to immediately assist when the safety of the doctor is compromised. What are your thoughts on this?

<pagetext>So if you were an interviewer who asked me: " What motivated you to apply to medicine/become a doctor?", how would you react if you heard the following answer:

 

- "There are doctors out there who care nothing more than to get as many patients in and out as they can- thus increasing their per hour profit. I have experienced a few of these types. I'm not generalizing : most doctors are very noble. However, the fact that doctors like this exist and are working makes me want to become one, simply to provide good health care to people rather than them getting poor health care from a bad doctor. "

 

...or something along those lines. By the way, this rings true for me...Ive been to 3 incompetent docs in the past 5 years: one is actually infamous in my community for being essentially useless. How useless:This doctor diagnosed a patient with a ruptured appendix as having the flu, and sent the patient home. Doctors like this make me sick.
