Guest uwkin
Hi all, this is my summer after 1st year and I decided to get some ugly courses out of the way. I'm not taking a full course load, but I took calculus and a couple of others. I think I did terrible in calculus (50% ??) but my first year marks were pretty good for first year marks - about a 3.7 GPA. Will this hurt my application and for which schools? I'm from Ontario, by the way. thanks!
Guest Chowchilla
you shouldn't have a problem at all with most ontario universities. take western, queen's, and uoft for example: they will consider your calculus as a completed credit, but will not include the mark in their gpa calculation since it was done during the summer. so you're okay there. but with other universities like mcmaster, you'll run into problems because they consider your cumulative gpa. and if you plan on applying to other provinces or the states, you'll have a problem as well. but you'll be fine with ontario (minus mcmaster).
