carmsismybestfriend
So this healthcare reform bill in Quebec mentioned by another poster - this affects surgeons as well not just medicine and family medicine people?
tigars53
Bill 10 only affects the organisation of the managing staff of the hospital. I "shouldn't" affect the care (which I doubt). Bill 20 however sets a minimum number of patients GPs should follow else they lose 30% of their pay. It also affects surgeons, but affects them in a different way. It's way less coercicive for surgeons. Basically it sets a maximum time consults urgent consults should be taken care of and how long should the waiting list be. But without injecting money into more available OR times and nurses to run the clinices, I have no idea how he thinks the surgeons will be able to reach those goals without cutting in the teaching and resident operating time... But don't jump to conclusions too quick, bill 20 is still far from being accepted as it faces strong opposition by the other parties and from all doctors in Quebec.
