Dts
Does anyone know how the semester hours in the states compare to the canadian credit system?
JohnGrisham
It would help if you gave more information on the school system you are using. It's generally not an issue though in terms of meeting pre-reqs and such. A 2 semester sequence of general chemistry (2x 4cr at most universities in Canada) would cover that 8 semester hour requirement of US schools for example. Dts
I had the semester system. So each semester course (either with or without lab) was given 3 credits. I got confused when I saw the 4 and 8 semester hours in the American system. Are they equivalent to our 3 and 6 credits (half year and full year courses). Is the extra credit for the lab? Yes more or less equivilant. Generally when they say 4 and 8, that includes labs. I know for some schools in Canada a science course with lab is not always 4cr, but 3cr. US schools understand this.
