  1. I posted this in the ubc forum: I live in a smaller city. Would it be best for me to go to a larger centre to ask about LOCs, or can I do it just as easily where I live? I'm trying to decide if I should take an extra day in Vancouver when I pass through there in a few weeks. __________________ I guess I should take a day there and try to make appointments, huh?
  2. Accepted. aGPA about 81-82% NAQ score last year 38? (that was pretty high with the old NAQ) MCAT: 33S This was my seventh year applying (yes you read that right). First interview at UBC. Interviewed at UofC last year but rejected post-interview. I flunked out of UBC in 1999. I have a 42% average from that year, fortunately it was dropped and I guess it wasn't enough to get me red flag rejected! I was worried it might. I am not really feeling much but I think I am shocked. I really had given up on UBC and was so surprised that I got the interview, and in fact I didn't even know that UBC was releasing invites that day. I moved to the Yukon to gain IP status in Alberta and Sask after UBC dropped the 10-year-rule. I am really surprised.
  3. Should probably post here... Rejected post-interview- but I finally got an interview! IP GPA: 3.75 (adjusted using 10-yr-rule), ~3.2 overall OMSAS MCAT: 33R (11VR) ECs: I guess above average based on last cycle scores Interview: Felt it went well, "brought myself", had a great time. I guess prep differently for next year?
  4. OK, this thread is really great for those of us non-trads to see that there are others like us, and that's what it's for. Can we keep it on track please? Thanks!
  5. I had a 0.42 GPA one year. Eventually, I too was offered a research project (and masters) at a very big-name US school. Funny enough, I'm a geology student too.
  6. Hmm. Tie between the one in Vietnam where I was woken up by a guy trying to crawl into bed with me and the cockroach-infested one in Dominican Republic that I was only in because I thought I was going to die trying to drive the roads in a rainstorm. Have you ever been/are you a vegetarian?
  7. I stayed at the Ramada in the summer and it was fine. There's a row of hotels there and it was the least expensive. I just happened to be there the day before stampede. It was still over $100. Question: hamburger or lasagna?
  8. Don't overthink glitches with adcom software...
  9. Anything that involves moving around. Walking around cities in E Europe was fun. I did a 3000-km bike tour of N Europe once. I also really, really like recent former war zones, because they are so incredibly interesting. I visited Sarajevo and Belgrade about 10 yrs ago and Cambodia 13yrs ago and they were just awesome. Should someone with an MCAT in 2-4 days be on PM101? (This is a purely hypothetical question)
  10. Every school counts "full time" differently. I think Ottawa is 8 courses between sept-april, but I could be wrong. The best way to check is by going to the school's website yourself.
  11. Well, I have to say WCBA, but there are lots I listen to. Coffee or tea?
  12. Go for a run and then take a hot shower. What's your favorite thing to do on a snowy day?
