LeBronto2019
Congratulations to all those in optometry. I hear job outlook might be rough, but this is some exciting news for you all (in Alberta): http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/alberta-optometrists-to-provide-more-eye-care-services-1.2626116
move.along
It must be quite depressing to be in a profession that is actively trying to pretend like it's something else (Ophthalmology).
LeBronto2019
I'm guessing you really want to get into Ophthalmology? It's better if primary care expands but don't worry, optometrists will never overshadow ophthalmologists.
Robin Hood
Ophthalmologists are surgeons, that's not the job of optometrists. Optometrists should be able to do everything they can do to treat eye diseases without surgery, and ophthalmologists should focus on surgery. airborne
It must be quite depressing to be in a profession that is actively trying to pretend like it's something else (Ophthalmology). I've never heard of optometrists pretending to be surgeons ?!?!
Odhopeful
I've never heard of optometrists pretending to be surgeons ?!?! That perception probably stems from the dogfight that's happening in the states over OD's trying to gain surgical privileges. They can perform LASIK in 2-3 states and OMD's aren't happy about it. Doesn't seem like an issue around here yet.
