ImASoldier
Hello Everyone, I will be applying to dental schools for the 2017-18 (UofT and UWO). I believe my marks/DAT are good enough to meet their standards; I was just wondering how my ECs match up? Here's a summary of my ECs -150-200 hours of Dental Shadowing- 2 Years of Work-study in Psychology Lab and 1 Year Workstudy in Biochemistry Lab (no publications/abstracts) - 3 Summers working for Community Health Organization - Assistant basketball Coach for 2 summers - VP of a student Club (1.5 Years) and 2 Years in Mentorship Program. I think overall I have a good amount of things but my concern is with the fact that I lack some research experience; I've never been one for "wet lab" research (find it isolating/boring overall) and that's why I switched to a Psychology lab which is more engaging to me. Thoughts? ECs meet standards?
Winnipeg9416
Your EC's look great to me! Research experience is not absolutely necessary, but can help if you have it. You have a very good variety of EC's and that is important. Cheers!

Thoughts? ECs meet standards? Your EC is very good! You have no direct research experience, but have related experience via work-study positions. I personally think those are as good/good enough (especially given that you're well-involved with many different activities)

Thank you all for the kind words; do you think Wet lab experience would be looked on more favorably than Psychology research considering its more applicable to Dentistry as a field? Jcro+
Thank you all for the kind words; do you think Wet lab experience would be looked on more favorably than Psychology research considering its more applicable to Dentistry as a field? I think the more the better. But if I had to choose between both, I would go with the one with more opportunities of getting a publication.
