4Tetra
Leaving on a 1 month vacation on May 5th. Wondering if it's necessary to be in the country to sign documents if the results come back good?
mastermeow
Also wondering this! I figured being on a backpacking trip would soften the blow in the case of rejections. I'm assuming if we have internet access, and an electronic signature handy, everything will be okay. I am wondering about criminal record checks though. Does anyone know if schools have criminal record checks set up so you can do it online? Or is it the drop it off at a police station kind of deal? rmorelan
you don't need to be immediately available on the day - I mean you have a stretch of time to respond in any case. as for the police check though I have never been able to do that except in person. You have quite some time to get that as well but you have to do it. Maybe someone else has figured out how to actually get the check without that - but you would think proper ID for that is very important and there are privacy issues. I'm going to be away for 2 months... might not have been the best planning. Do you remember how long you have to complete criminal record checks and other things? I've submitted a number of criminal record checks for volunteer gigs on some government website... although the requesting organization has to set it all up beforehand so that you're able to do it this way. Wouldn't surprise me if most med schools just have you submit in person at a station.

Wondering if it's necessary to be in the country to sign documents if the results come back good? I had to mail a deposit and some forms (including a formal acceptance of my offer) to my school within 1 or 2 weeks of hearing I believe to "secure" my spot... m_jacob_45
true but that can be done from anyway in theory I suppose Yup absolutely, the only thing that might be complicated is I remember the cheque had to be certified/a money order, so you would need access to your bank. There are ways around that The other note of course is around 1/3 of the class is pulled off of a waitlist. So it isn't just being around on the 9th that is important. I would be more worried if I was planning on being away for 2 months to have issues with that side of things.

rmorelan
The money can just be transferred no? electronically? last time I checked they were still in the stone age with mailed in cheques actually I guess that is technically the Renaissance age with paper contracts. Oh well.
